Since 1977, the Wayside Chapel (below)
and the surrounding grounds have offered a place of worship and quiet beauty to
the members of St. Martin’s and the community. The Chapel grounds now serve as the
home of the Garden of the Holy Cross-Riverway, an expansion of our existing Garden
of the Holy Cross.

The Garden of the Holy Cross — Riverway
contains 1,197 niches, one-half on the east side and one-half on the west side of
the grounds, having a north-south orientation. The niches are accessed via a walkway
of brick pavers between garden walls, enhanced by benches, trees, flowers and other
landscaping.
Each niche is capped with a block
of solid granite from the quarry in Marble Falls, Texas. This is the same granite
from which the Great Cross and the State Capitol Building in Austin are made.
